We've worked out some averages to help you decide. One refill makes a 250ml bottle of hand wash. That's about 165 hand washes per refill. Let's assume one person washes their hands at home in the bathroom 3-5 times a day. That refill will last  days, about 1 month.

Our Hand Wash is made with fewer than 10 essential ingredients for a skin cleansing routine that’s kinder to living things than the average soap. It’s cruelty free, vegan, and sulfate free. Our scents are distilled from leftover timber and citrus pulp. When mixed in water our concentrated formula is 99% natural, aka petrol free. The 1% that isn’t is an essential preservative that keeps the hand wash free of harmful microbes and is required by EU regulations.

We work with naturally distilled fragrances extracted from leftover fruit and wood leftovers. The aroma is mild so our hand wash can work well for sensitive skin. 

We select ingredients based on their benefits and impact on our body and planet. Our recipes are based on simplicity, using fewer than ten essential ingredients to cleanse and nourish the skin. Each ingredient is vetted to be of little to no toxin to our environment when washed down the drain. To drastically cut our environmental impact we use farm leftovers over food stock, and fast growth crops over exotic fruits. The industry likes to cover up its bad farming practices that contribute to deforestation with certificates. We don’t. We’re in the process of verifying the origin of our raw materials. We aim to have a fully traceable supply chain by 2025.

We follow the EU’s Ingredient health and safety guidelines that prohibits the use of over 1300 ingredients. These are the most stringent rules for personal care products in the world. Our ingredients are vegan, cruelty free, sulfate-free, and no to low in toxicity.

Labels can do more harm than good by giving companies a pass on their bad practices. For marginally doing better these labels mislead people into trusting brands without having to show any evidence of real improvement. That being said, we do have a few that we believe count.

Our products are sulfate free, paraben free, and microplastic free in formulation and packaging. That’s hard to beat. We follow EWG’s database to select ingredients that rank no to low in toxicity. Our products do not contain synthetic perfume. We do use natural scents that may cause an allergic reaction for some. We recommend using our neutral hand wash, or checking the ingredients list first if you have experienced a negative skin reaction to scented products before.

Customers with sensitive skin keep telling us how great our products work for them. Some have even used our hand wash as a makeup remover, and face cleanser. We use mild foaming ingredients, no synthetic fragrances, and the smallest amount of natural scents. We recommend using our neutral hand wash, or checking the ingredients list first if you have experienced a negative skin reaction to scented products before.

Yes, we use ingredients that were not tested on animals, and we do not use any animal products or byproducts in our formulations. Honestly, who does nowadays?

Currently we do because there is no alternative available. Though we are pressuring ingredient makers to switch to fast growing replenishable crops over exotic deforesting fruits. Some of the innovations we are pushing include switching to climate positive seaweed based ingredients, and natural fermentation agricultural waste.

It’s surprisingly simple, but strange the first time around. Fill the glass bottle with hot tap water to the dotted line. Pour in one refill of hand wash. Close the bottle with the pump. Shake well for 30 seconds. Let it sit for a minute, and you’re ready to wash your hands! A bit of powder may take longer to dissolve, but don’t worry about that.

One refill makes a full bottle of hand wash. 250ml to be exact. If every hand wash takes two pumps then one bottle lasts 165 hand washes. If you wash your hands three to five times a day, you’ll go through a bottle in one month.

If the product is subjected to excessive heat or cold for short periods of time, the product’s efficacy will not be impacted, though it may result in a thicker or thinner texture. While the products don’t have a formal expiration date, it is generally recommended that they be used within 3 years of manufacture or 6 months after opening for best product quality...but we think you’ll love them so much that this won’t even be an issue.

Our bottles and pumps are guaranteed for five years when used for their intended purpose, and with FORGO refills.

Between refills rinse the glass bottle with hot tap water and pump out hot tap water through the pump to clean it up. If you encounter any issues let us know by sending an email to hello@forgo.se.

We’re a small company producing where we sell. We work with small manufacturers to tailor make every part of our product from the lab in Canada to the glass bottle maker in Portugal. Our close partnerships let us innovate with small means; simple solutions to complicated problems. 

Compared to liquid personal care packaged in plastic—yeah it’s decades into the future better, but let’s break it down. We look into four key aspects to measure our impact on the planet. 

Co2e emissions

We measure the reduction in net emissions across the entire supply chain and lifecycle of our product. We partnered with Carbon Calories, a resource economist, to determine that every time you refill with powder to liquid hand wash vs. a new bottle of soap, you reduce emissions by 85% approximately.

We measure how much of what we use in our product is made from trash. Treating waste as a resource is one of the least carbon intensive and land intensive sourcing methods a brand can have. Our packaging is made from 90% post consumer recycled paper and 10% FSC certified wood pulp. Even our fragrances are made from lumber yard scraps and juiced fruits. Our ambition is to source a greater % of our ingredients and packaging from trash. In due time.

Where many brands only consider the toxicity of their ingredients, we go a step further to include our packaging in creating a no to low toxicity product. Unlike single use plastic that is an environmental toxin that takes 500+ years to degrade, paper is relatively low in toxicity. In many environmental conditions paper can even be a resource for replenishing soil as it degrades in weeks. 

Land Usage

One of the most challenging aspects to get any oversight of in the entire personal care industry. We aim to know exactly how our ingredients are cultivated by 2023. Transparency is the first step in knowing what to fix in our supply chain. Unlike our certified sources for our paper, most personal care ingredients have little to know oversight. We’re advocating for change with all the major suppliers.

Yeah you can. We selected the paper for its ease of recycling in normal paper recycle streams.

Our current paper refills are made of 99% wood pulp and are glued together with water soluble PVA. Paper degrades within weeks, the 1% PVA biodegrades in nature over a longer time. PVA is a commercially used edible and non-toxic polymer found in some foods and medicine.

The glass bottle is designed to last decades. It is fully recyclable and has a greater than 75% chance of being recycled. The pumps on the other hand are a mix of steel and plastic components. To recycle, please drop in the metals bin.
